Creating the "Mastering Virtual Etiquette: Navigating UNT Online Resources Like a Pro" Canvas course has been quite the ride, with its fair share of highs and lows, though mostly highs. It's been fascinating to delve into the various processes involved in building an online course from scratch, while also exploring the multitude of approaches one can take to achieve desired outcomes, especially given the abundance of available technologies for crafting learning content.
As of today, I'm nearing the end of my development process. While I initially aimed to wrap up this phase around this time (or earlier), I've found myself caught up in tweaking learning activities to better align with the intended learning objectives and goals. This iterative process has proven invaluable, providing a safe platform to emulate the professional journey of an education, instructional designer, or eLearning developer.
Various factors have contributed to the delays in the project's development, including some technological hiccups. Utilizing tools like Camtasia for informative videos and Genially for interactive experiences has been both rewarding and time-consuming. Crafting multimedia content from scratch demands an exceptional level of detail, particularly when striving for quality content, as is the case here.
Working independently on this Canvas course creation has its perks, though it comes with its own set of challenges. Peer reviews and feedback from my professor and teaching assistant have been instrumental in refining the content and overall structure of the course, mirroring a real-world collaborative process.
Looking ahead, I've identified areas for improvement in future projects. Strategic tool selection and setting more realistic deliverable dates are key lessons learned. Despite the challenges, I feel confident in my abilities as an instructional designer, thanks to the countless hours invested in creating online learning content for various needs.
As I continue on my journey to becoming a competitive instructional designer, I'm excited about tackling new projects with varying levels of complexity. The technical and soft skills acquired through my roles as a student and professional have prepared me for the challenges ahead, and I'm eager to see where this journey takes me.
